Rising up early sets the intention for a great day ahead but the most important thing is how do you start the first hour of each morning.

Robin Sharma talks about the 20/20/20 framework

Which is that you spend 20 minutes on each activity.

But, a great takeaway from this it’s to set up a morning routine that will move you closer to your goal on your self-improvement journey.

But another great takeaway from this book is that getting out of your comfort zone will end up leaving you with great results.

Another practical self-help book that actually works.                    

Do you feel that fear is holding you back from the life you want?

We all have fear at some point when we try to get out of our comfort zone.

The great news is the Feel The Fear And Do it Anyway is that it helps you with any kind of fear.


Feel The Fear And Do it Anyway has many chapters, to begin with, but don’t let that overwhelm you.

Number 1: Know Your Fear

There are 3 levels of fear and each level are divided into 2 types

Thos that happens

  • Being alone
  • Aging
  • Losing loved ones

  • Changing careers
  • Moving abroad

But no matter what fear you face they all come down to one thing and it’s


It was shocking to me when I first learned about it but the more you go throughout the book you will fully understand why we feel fear anyway.


Number 2: Understand The Fear

There are 5 truths about fear and you might have heard of them before but you are not aware of it.

Truth number one:


The fear will never go away as long as I continue to grow.

Believe it or not, as you continue to expand your ability and your world you will experience fear no matter what.

It’s a part of life. Only your relationship with yourself can alter your associations with fear, it all starts with self-confidence.

Truth number two:


The Only Way to Get Rid Of Fear Is to Go Out And Do it!

It seems obvious but it’s the truth, you’ll never gonna get rid of it that’s a fact but doing it will eliminate the fear anyway.

Think of it this way, what do you think is worse, feeling afraid of that thing you want to do and being stuck? Or the results you will have after taking action?

It took me a while to figure this out, which is why this book comes in handy whenever you are in fear or new experience.

Number 3: It’s Time to Move From Pain to Power



My favorite chapter of this book.

Fear is not the problem.

Your thoughts about it are the problem.

This chapter is all about doing the practical work and which is what I recommend for any self-help book is for it to be practical.

One practical way is to make a chart of pain to power as illustrated in the photo.

Hang it on your wall and each day look at it and ask yourself Do I see myself at the same place, or have I moved?

Last Note

You have the power within you and only you can create your fear and also you have the ability to learn to move through it.

One thing I learned about fear and it’s not mentioned in this book, that fear is the same physiological state as excitement only your thoughts determine if you are in a state of fear or excitement (Mind blown).

I recommend if you will get this book is to get it in paper format since you will want to highlight a lot.

                 I wish I were that great photographer, but I’m not. 



You might think this book is some kind of a joke, but I’m aware that if you are into self-help books that you have already seen or probably read them.

Either way, it’s the only book that you don’t want to miss regarding reading any self-help books.




Lesson 1: Don’t Try

Have you ever tried so many times to do a certain thing and each time you end up failing big?

That’s what Bukowski been through, going from one thing to another thing that results in a big failure.

Mark’s point was to explain when Bukowski stopped trying to make everything perfect he ended up selling his novels over 2 million copies.




Lesson 2: It’s Not Your Fault

Culture and society have put pressure on people of what everyone must do.

Be more happier.

Be more healthier.

Become more and do more.

While there is nothing wrong with wanting more but it’s an illustration of what all these self-help books are advising you to do.




Lesson 3: Be Careful of What You Believe

*Disturbing story ahead

Mark shares a story of a woman who was a journalist, came to realize that one day her father actually sexually abused her as a child.

Turn out this was a false memory that she had believed.

Anyway the point, our brain is designed to be efficient, not accurate.

Your brain is trying to make sense of a situation based on what you believe, that’s how we spend our lives.




Bottom Line

There is nothing wrong with having a bad experience.

You will always give a f*ck about things but which one you decide to give a f*ck about is your choice.

You are wrong about everything.

Believe it or not but reading the right type of books can do change your mind.

But reading alone can’t change your mind you have to put in the work after you read any type of book by taking notes or question your new information.

The short answer they do work and they can change your life.

Long answer, without putting in the work you won’t gain much, there is a difference between knowledge and knowing.



Do Self Help Books Make You Worse?

There are many conflict points about whether self-help books can make you worse but the truth is they simply can make you worse if you don’t let it be.

If a book didn’t come out the way you thought it would be move on to the next book, it would be wrong to ask you to never read self-help books.




Are Self-help Books a Waste of Time?



No, on the contrary, they can give you new knowledge and experiences you aren’t aware of yet.

If that’s not enough then reading itself is not a waste of time.
